On another level...

Eating from above...

When people talk about a pop up on a roof top with amazing food trucks you automatically assume East London and stop even bothering to plan a visit. It's too far, it's inconvenient, nope. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Imagine my surprise when I heard that it was in WEST London and even better, at Shepherd's Bush/White City atop the old BBC car park. So one Friday evening the other half and I headed to Storeys for an evening of feasting. *fingers crossed*

Arriving around 7pm, there was already a long line forming - being the second week may have had something to do with it. The wait wasn't too long and we were soon climbing the stairs (all the stairs) up to the roof. Wear comfortable shoes and you may need to pack a snack...

Storeys is split into 2 areas over 2 split levels - one level (the one you arrive at) is all seating by way of pallets and pillows and the 'toilets' and urinals can be found at the far end. On the next level are the food huts, 2 bars, a dj booth and more seating. Oh, the view too! Especially lovely if there's a sunset... more building site if not...

The night we attended the food providers were Yum Jungle, We Serve Humans, Tico's Brazilian Street Food, White Men Can't Jerk and Pulled. Assessing the menu and the lines we ended up going for Yum Jungle and boy was it delish. No disappointment here. One thing to note... the big bar takes cards but all other outlets are cash only. Discuss your buying plan with your partner before making any purchases else you'll be left holding an expensive drink each and £10 left for food. Poor communication and planning did not serve us well!

In the end we shared a crispy chicken and Thai inspired burger (YUM!) and some sriracha mayo fries (also YUM!). We were actually left satisfied so the lack of cash ended up being ok.

Unless you've got a big group or managed to nab a nifty space then it's not really a place to linger at. We struggled to find seating (sitting in the path of the bbq smoke proved a bad idea after a few minutes) and ended up standing and eating against a low wall. After a quick wander around there wasn't much else to do and with no more cash we thought it was enough and we'd head home.

Would we return? Maybe if we had a group... or maybe if the options weren't so limited. Looking at the line up this week there's already more options than when we went so maybe it's already better...

A part of the cool club...

Snail mail gets lucky...

I often stumble upon things... People often ask me how and where and I'm often clueless to the origins. Maybe I have a sieve for a brain but there it is...

The other month I stumbled across the Lucky Dip Club. I'd heard of the growing trend of monthly subscriptions where you're sent a package/box relating to a hobby or interest. There's ones for stationery, make up, geeky gadgets and I'm sure everything else under the sun. None had really taken my interest until of course the Lucky Dip Club.

Tagged as 'personalised packages filled with surprises' it quickly caught my attention. Add the fact there's often stationery, craft and jewellery involved and I was there. Oh did I mention there's a personalised item every month too?

One small problem... if you're signing up for your first box, you have to sign up at 7am on the 1st of the month or else miss out. The most recent boxes have sold out within hours. So  knowing this there I was on the 1st of July waiting to click 'subscribe'. I managed to nab one and now subscribed. Phew.

At £15 a month, it's not a huge price tag. For the items you get, it's certainly worth it! Each month has a different theme and a guess collaboration.

This month it was 'Under the Sea' and contained the following items:

Personalised necklace and seahorse perspex brooch.

Jellyfish amigurumi kit

Charm of the month - available in silver or gold. (your first order comes with a necklace and bracelet chain)

A sweet notebook

The packages arrive at the end of the month and was definitely a lovely surprise in the mail... From the ribbon tied around it to every little packaging and sticker, it was evident that every little detail had been thought of.

Next month is 'A Geek Girl's Guide to Travel'... the end of August can't come soon enough!

Whoops...

Hello all, just a quick post to say sorry it's been a little quiet on here of late. It's been a manic few weeks at work and there was a trip to Ireland in there too!

Now I'm back and ready to roll... lot's of posts to catch up on so stay tuned and check back often!

Thanks for reading and see you out there!
