Fancy doughnuts from Down Under...
So this happened:
Clearly my no sugar/minimizing sugar diet is not working.
In my defence, it's been a tough few weeks at work and I had to work this weekend...
But let's not focus on me and instead focus on these fine specimens of sweet delights.
I first came across Crosstown Doughnuts I don't know how... but it led me to tracking them to a nearby cafe from work and then to squeals of delight at finding them at Broadway Market then taking another tube line home just to go to their pop up in Piccadilly Circus then finally excitedly (but worriedly) awaiting their opening in Soho. (all spread across months rather than all in one day)
Since they've opened in Soho I've managed to 'drag' a few friends there and introduced it to many others at work while progressively happily widening my waistline.
So what's so amazing about these doughnuts that you'd pay top shelf prices for them?

- They're half Aussie and half Kiwi run and owned.
- They're made of sourdough so they're instantly more healthy than others. (Fact*)
- Due to the sourdough they don't absorb as much oil when deep fried so don't have that gross greasy flavour or feeling
- They have unique rotating flavours plus seasonal/special occassion ones so you'll never get bored!
- They're not overly sweet or sickly
I'll be honest, I've managed to try quite a few flavours already and I'd highly recommend the Peanut Butter & Berry, Belgian Chocolate Truffle and Sea Salt Caramel & Banana Cream. I really liked the Espresso one but they don't seem to do that one anymore...
Tip: Don't mistake the chocolate ring doughnut for something boring. There's a delicious surprise to be found inside!
Get over to Crosstown now. Or ASAP. The coffee is pretty damn good too!
* not medically or scientifically proven - but they're so damn tasty!!
